Trajnimi i gazetarëve me ndotësit e Liqenit të Ohrit/ Training journalists to identify the polluters of Lake Ohrid

Për dy ditë rresht zhvilluam në Pogradec, një workshop të thelluar mbi problematikat e Liqenit të Ohrit, pasuri ndërkufitare e listuar në UNESCO për vlera të jashtëzakonshme natyrore dhe kulturore.

Fokusi i këtij workshopi ishin gazetarët investigativë, kombëtarë e lokalë, të cilët morën informacion të detajuar mbi gjithë situatën e Liqenit të Ohrit në të dy anët e kufirit. Lektorë ishin ekspertë të njohur njohës të thellë të gjithë ekosistemit Ohrid - Prespa, si Arian Merolli, ekspert mjedisi, Adrian Anastasi, arkeolog që qëndron në krye të ekspeditave kërkimore të vendbanimeve palafite përgjatë Liqenit të Ohrit, ekspertë të institutit Hidrologjik në Maqedoni, dhe anëtarë të organizatës OhridSos z. Trajce TALESKI, ekspertë të trashëgimisë kulturore të qarkut Florenc Cenolli, DRKK Korçe, Froseda Tola eksperte e trashëgimisë kulturore Bashkia Pogradec, ekspertë të Zonave të Mbrojtura, Noldi Shano e Gani Bego, Përfaqësues të Bashkisë Pogradec, z Andi Kosta, Ledion Zeqollari, ekspert Peshkimi etj.

Dita e parë ishte e fokusuar në teori, ku fillimisht gazetarët u njohën me vlerat e Liqenit të Ohrit, pse është pasuri unike, me pas me rekomandimet e UNESCO pse kjo pasuri është në rrezik, dhe pse shtetet palë nuk kanë përmbushur ende detyrimet e tyre, dhe më pas u renditën dhe u analizuan gjithë ndotësit e Liqenit të Ohrit, aktivitetet minerare, trajtimi i pamjaftueshëm i ujërave të zeza, ndërtimet pa kriter, mungesa e mbrojtjes strikte të pasurive kulturore etj.

Më tej një prej gazetarëve më të njohur investigativë, z. Artan Rama, foli për mënyrat e hulumtimit dhe raportimit të gazetarisë investigative mjedisore, si të kërkosh burimet, si të marrësh informacion dhe si të raportosh për të patur ndikim dhe impakt.

Dita e dytë vazhdoi me udhëtim në terren, për të parë me sy gjithcka që u diskutua në terren. Gazetarët udhëtuan drekt Alarupit ku një aktivitet i ri minerar ka nisur pasi pjesa shqiptare u fut në UNESCO, më pas vizituan vendin ku derdhen ujërat e patrajtuara mire në liqen, panë nga afër ndryshimet që po pëson Parku i Drilonit, si dhe më pas vazhduan drejt Minieres së Gurit të Kuq dhe zonës kërkimore në Lin.

Ky projekt zbatohet nga DMO Albania dhe financohet nga Journalismfund.eu dhe qëllimi është të nxisim një seri artikujsh investigative për ndotësit e Liqenit të Ohrit që mund të vënë në "Listën e Rrezikut" këtë pasuri botërore.

Training journalists to identify the polluters of Lake Ohrid, Albanian side

 DMO ALBANIA organized this weekend from 10-11 December 2022 a workshop with investigative journalists to get deep knowledge about the challenges and problems Lake Ohrid is facing now. Lake Ohrid is a UNESCO world Heritage, shared between Albania and North Macedonia. It is listed for the outstanding natural and cultural values, so it is one of the mixed world heritages sites.

The aim of this workshop was to make journalists aware about the polluters of Lake Ohrid. There are very few articles about Lake Ohrid, especially for the environment problems, while from the other hand all the reports of our state party for UNESCO are very positive, hiding the real problems

More than 30 participants were present in the workshop, including journalists from Tirana and well-known media, also local journalists who are reporting every day for Lake Ohrid

Also, we had representatives from Municipality of Pogradec, experts for protected areas, for culture protection, experts of fisheries, also three representatives from North Macedonia, members of Ohrid Sos organization, professors from Institute of Hydrobiology to discuss the problems they face, because we have one shared lake. Most of the problems are the same

The main part of discussion was focused on recommendations of UNESCO for both state parties, which they should address before February 2023 and report how they are solving the problematic situations regarding this heritage site.

 We discussed deeply for every recommendation by UNESCO what is done, and what Lake Ohrid risks if UNESCO committee put our heritage in Danger List next year.

 We had presentations from Environment Expert, Culture expert UNESCO, experts from National Protected areas, also for all archaeological digging in the area of Lin, which dates back 7000 years ago, palafite settlements.

 Journalists were informed about the mine activity, what is happening with the waste of this activity which leaks into the lake. Also, we discussed about the poor treatment of wastewater which also ends up in the lake. We spoke about the species in danger, not only in the lake, such as Koran and Belushka fishes, but also even for the animals in the protected areas in buffer zone, around Lake Ohrid.

We talked for some projects in Drilon Area, which is a strict protected area, but under a project of development now, which is not transparent for the journalists and the public

At the end the well-known investigative journalist Artan Rama, made a presentation for other journalists how to find data for investigative articles, what researches they should do, and how to make impact with their articles

The second day we traveled around the Lake, to see in place the polluted areas, the mine activities, and construction projects. We traveled and stopped in several hotspots from Tushemisht to Lin and journalists took photos, videos, gathering information for their articles.
